Ellie Harvie as Morticia

"I don't think that I would like to dress up as Morticia for Halloween, but I would like to dress up like Uncle Fester… My favourite classic Addams Family episode is the one where Carolyn Jones played her sister Ophelia too. As an actress, I can see how much fun it was for her." Ellie Harvie

The youngest daughter of Granny Frump, Morticia is beautiful and aristocratic. Her complexion is dead white and she has a penchant for wearing black. She keeps carnivorous plants as pets, feeding meatballs to her African strangler, Cleopatra. As a child, she had two pet vultures, Hubert and Henry. One of her favourite past-times is clipping the heads off of roses, displaying the stems in vases. Her favourite chair is a large rattan throne and she affectionately pets a brass dragon that shoots bursts of smoke from its nostrils in satisfaction. The real driving force behind the family, Morticia is an adoring wife who indulges the mischievous activities of her children. She likes to practice hypnotism and is constantly knitting.

Ellie Harvie stars as the Addams matriarch Morticia in The New Addams Family. She boasts extensive stage experience with The Arts Club Theatre, TheatreSports and The Vancouver Fringe Festival. Such endeavours were followed with roles in numerous feature films and television shows, including Wrongfully Accused, Mr. Magoo, The Marshal, The X-Files, Saving Grace and Happy Gilmore.

As part of the Vancouver TheatreSports team, Harvie won the 1995 Just for Laughs Improv Tournament championship held in Montreal, beating competitors from across the world. She also holds a gold medal from the 1998 Canadian Broadcasting Corporations' Improv Comedy Olympics.

Born in Belleville, Ontario, Harvie is the youngest of five children born into a U.S. Air Force family. They eventually settled in Sasketchewen and Harvie later attended the University of Manitoba, where she earned a degree in political studies. After graduating, Harvie moved to Vancouver in 1987, where she took up a two-year course at the Vancouver Playhouse Theatre School. Her love of stand-up comedy and improv led to extra work in TheatreSports.

Harvie's ambitions include a desire to develop her own sitcom series.
The New Addams Family brought Harvie further accolades, including a Canadian Comedy Award nomination and a 2000 Leo award for Best Performance/Host in a Music, Comedy or Variety Program or Series. More recent work includes the television series P.R..
