Terry Crawford was born Terrayne Crawford in Boston, Massachusetts. Her birth date is February 13th. She is sometimes credited as Terry though prefers the more formal Terrayne both on and off the screen.

Her interest in drama began at an early age, writing and acting out plays with her sisters. The proceeds collected from the neighbourhood kids attending the amateur productions was used by the Crawford girls to attend a Saturday matinee at the local movie theatre. "I would come out, especially from the musicals, just dancing in the street," she recalls.

Terrayne was accepted to Brown University and looking forward to pursuing a major in experimental psychology. However, she was victim of a car accident and broke her arm. The recovery period gave her a chance to think and change the course of her career. With a few hundred dollars in her pocket, she moved to New York City and pursued acting jobs to fund her education at Hunter College.

Her professional debut was on stage in the 1962 New York City World's Fair production of To Broadway With Love. Terrayne's other theater credits include Harold Arlen Songbook, The Apple Tree, Macbeth, Loop The Loop and a Broadway bow for By Jupiter.

While appearing on Dark Shadows, Terrayne spent her off-camera time in the dressing room preparing term papers for her evening classes at college. Besides her other daytime drama credit on The Catlins, Terrayne appeared in about 25 nationally run commercials including Pfeifer Salad Dressing, Fresca, Diet Mazola, A-1 Steak Sauce, Lysol, Taylor Zippers, Brandiff, Hudson Tissues, Noilly Prat and the promotion for Milton Bradley's Barnabas Collins Dark Shadows board game.

Her primetime guest appearances include Trials of O'Brian, East Side-West Side, Coronet Blue, Cliff Dwellers and the television film Maid in America.

Terrayne also saw some action on the big screen in Sharky's Machine, Sam's Song, Midnight Cowboy, Luv, The Tiger Makes Out, A Fine Madness, Mister Buddwing and a cameo as Todd Jennings' nurse in House of Dark Shadows.

In the 1970s she decided to "follow guidance" from within and depart from acting to concentrate on teaching and counselling with a focus on non-violent conflict. Terrayne was ordained a minister and created the organization, which promoted human awareness and growth, called Inner Light Ministry.

In 2002, Terrayne returned to the small screen for guest role as a "friendly woman" on an episode of General Hospital.

Today, Terrayne Crawford supports the human rights of children and youth through her organization One World Media at the United Nations in New York, Geneva, Vienna and Paris. She encourages her Young Media Partners (reporters aged 13-26) to express themselves using their skills in order to create an ethical and peaceful society.

In 2003, Terrayne revisited Dark Shadows in the Return to Collinwood reunion audio play. She played Violet Collins, the wife of David Collins.
