A fanatical witch-hunter with dubious credentials, Reverend Trask enters Collinwood at the request of Abigail Collins to perform the rite of exorcism. Serving his own ambition and prejudices, the charlatan minister conducts an illicit interrogation and trial, which results in the conviction and execution of an innocent Victoria Winters. However, a righteous supernatural force suffocates Trask's selfish satisfaction with a brick wall and an eternity of darkness...

Jerry Lacy was born Gerard LeRoy Lacy on March 27 1936 in Sioux City, Iowa. Jerry left Iowa to join the US Marines before joining Los Angeles City College, where he began to pursue a career in acting. His initial time as a actor in New York was a difficult time, with little work. Jerry supported himself by working nights as a bank-clerk processor. An all-time low saw him earn just $301 in a year as an actor. Disheartened, he relocated in California and worked for a year a planner for Douglas Aircraft, before deciding to give acting another try. Returning to New York in April 1967, he found himself steadily employed as an actor, joining the cast of Dark Shadows later that year.

Jerry's extensive career has included many roles on daytime television. Besides Dark Shadows, he has also appeared in The Secret Storm, As the World Turns, Love of Life and The Young and the Restless. He was hired on Dark Shadows at the recommendation of then husband and wife Nancy Barrett and David Ford, who had worked with him on the stage.

Jerry's close resemblance to Humphrey Bogart made him the perfect choice for Woody Allen's Broadway play and film Play It Again Sam, in which Bogey acts as a spiritual guide to Woody Allen's character. The play ran concurrently with Lacy's commitments on Dark Shadows and Dan Curtis was eager to capitalise on the resemblance by styling Jerry's first character, Tony Peterson, to mirror the star. Elsewhere, Jerry assumed the Bogart persona in a number of other mediums, including a successful series of commercials for Right Guard deodorants, one of which also featured Dark Shadows actress Marie Wallace.

In the late 1970s, Jerry met actress Julia Duffy, who would become his second wife. In 1982, Jerry worked behind the scenes as a writer for the TV series Newhart. This period marked the beginning of a withdrawal from the acting profession, during which he worked as a writer on the sitcom Parenthood, before moving into stock trading, which he had dabbled in as a hobby for some years already.

Elsewhere, Jerry has appeared extensively in guest roles on episodic television, including roles in Chicken Soup for the Soul, Saved by the Bell: The New Class, Eight is Enough, Hardball and a stint alongside his wife on Designing Women.

Jerry's cinema credits include roles in House of Dark Shadows, Pleasure Cove, Fighting Back, Chiller, Blood Bath, The Money and more recently The Big G, which was released in 2002. The latter solidifies his recent return to the acting profession after a prolonged absence.

Jerry, Julia, and their two children currently reside in California.

Biography written by Vera Marano

Commercial Break! Jerry Lacy's Humphrey Bogart persona was employed in a series of Right Guard anti-perspirant commercials during the Dark Shadows run. In this spot, Bogie comes to Dark Shadows co-star Marie Wallace's aid with a can, saving her from embarassment and undue sweatiness. How gallant...
