Bits of love, laughter, and life are perfectly woven together in Kathryn Leigh Scott's My Scrapbook Memories of Dark Shadows. In her first published work, Ms. Scott delivers with a pedestrian purity, which rapidly evolves into a polished pen during the course of her commentary. An example is quite obvious in such deft descriptive phrases as "...honeycombed with secret rooms and passages..." which successfully conveys a sense of Collinwood in perspective.

Scott, a real beauty who still remains unblemished by celebrated status, here shows touches of tenderness towards her thespian colleagues especially close
friend Joel Crothers, who passed away in 1985. Perpetuating a sort of family honor, she proceeds with some delightful asides such as Joan Bennett's "Tiffany" brown bag, Thayer David's huge appetite, and "dedication to the craft" with the advent of a kiss.

Elsewhere her sense of humour escapes in a recollection of a "racy Dr. Denton" photoshoot with first hubby, Ben Martin, for whom the book is dedicated. There is an insert of photographs with 76 pages, featuring everything from Jonathan Frid in vamp-attire taking a "catnap" on the grounds at Lyndhurst, to Scott with "Rufus" the rhino on Safari in East Africa.

For the methodical Scott, her retrospective would not be complete without a summary of the series' storyline, a full listing of the cast with the characters they portrayed, production credits, and an "In Memoriam" page.

After some 20 years and numerous other professional projects, it is not of any great consequence that at times Scott's recollection is not right on. Perhaps it is just that
alter-ego "Josette" preferred her beloved Barnabas instead of Ben Stokes to torch Angelique in the tower room!

Now a decade out of print, it is not surprising that this title continues, just like the cult classic itself, to remain in circulation.
