The
Dark Shadows Music Book offers 18 of the most memorable scores
from Robert Cobert's extensive catalogue of compositions for the
original series and films. Included are the popular Josette's
Music Box and Grammy nominated Quentin's Theme as well
as well as some less recognizable tunes as Goodbye, Collinwood
or Millicent Collins.
Publisher
Kathryn Leigh Scott comments: "A book about Bob Cobert and
the music he composed for Dark Shadows was a must. His evocative
compositions created the romantic, mysterious other-worldliness
of our show as surely as any of the other elements - the acting,
writing, sets, lighting and costumes. It was all of a piece, but
I always felt that without Cobert's eerie, spine-tingling music
- remember the 'stings' whenever anything really dramatic occurred?
- our show would have been utterly flat. Bob created several signature
pieces that became hit songs! How excited we were when Bob created
a special song for our characters. Needless to say, the music box
theme was one of my favorites."
In
the foreword, Cobert recalls that his Dark Shadows stint
was a career thrill with Quentin's Theme passing over the
one million performance mark. The sheet music selection for both
piano and guitar arrangements is presented with an attractive
cover, featuring a beautiful rare still from Night of Dark Shadows.
The text is presented with a selection of black and white photographs,
along with a gallery of full-page pictures. Also included is a definitive
discography, some of the lively lyrics, and a selection of appropriate
credits.
If
you are shopping for musical memories, this book is indeed a bonus
bargain to a fan.
