The Dark Shadows 35th Anniversary Festival was held on the weekend of August 17, 18 and 19 at the Marriott World Trade Center Hotel in New York City. Over 1,500 Dark Shadows fans converged for a sell-out event celebrating 35 years of mystery and suspense from the residents of Collinwood.

Dominating the stage for the entire weekend was the majestic life-size portrait of the recently deceased
Louis Edmonds (Roger Collins) seen in the Dan Curtis pilot Dead of Night. The portrait was donated by Louis' estate to be auctioned for charity, raising $3,100 for Cancer causes in Baton Rogue, Louisiana.  Its imposing image allowed Louis' spirit to make a welcome posthumous appearance throughout the 35th Anniversary celebrations.

Other Festival highlights included
Lara Parker and David Selby taking to the stage to perform the touching two-person play Love Letters, along with several cast members taking part in the weekend's comedy skits.

Darren Gross
whetted fan appetites for the proposed Night of Dark Shadows restoration with a selection of recovered footage, including scenes deleted for violence and the unrestored crucial séance scene from the finale of the film, which has never before been screened in public.

On September 11, 2001, the New York World Trade Center, the venue of the Dark Shadows Festival less than a month previously, was destroyed in a terrorist attack. My deepest sympathy is extended to the victims of this tragedy and their families. Blood is needed to help the many victims of the New York and Washington tragedies; To learn how you can make a donation visit www.redcross.org.
