Relationship Ends in Tragedy |
January
16 2003 |
A
number of newspapers and media sources reported this week
on a murder case involving a couple who met at the 2001
Dark Shadows Festival in New York City.
Richard
Jenkins, 48, of Portland, Oregon, shot Elizabeth
Forman, 45, of Norwood, Philadelphia, in a hotel room
in Times Square, calmly confessing the crime to a stunned
clerk shortly afterwards, according to police. A dispute
rose over a sum of money he had loaned her, apparently.
Commenting
on the tragedy, Festival Director Jim Pierson and
actress Kathryn Leigh Scott (Maggie) refuted points
of unwarranted speculation from the media: "The vampirical
aspect is secondary to the show," commented Pierson.
"It's about a tragic, romantic vampire who pines for
his lost love - but there's no connection. A
loose-wire fan could be into anything. These people could
have been at an Ally McBeal convention and ended
up in the same boat." Scott added: "Most fans
are loyal and enormously devoted," she said. "They're
usually quite intelligent and very reasonable - but there's
always the odd one."
