Restore Night
of Dark Shadows |
August
28
2002 |
Darren
Gross has updated the status of the proposed restoration
of the 1971 film Night of Dark Shadows: "Those
of you who follow Dark Shadows are probably aware
of the struggle myself and the folks at Dan Curtis Productions
have been having getting the film restored. Although preservation
elements were recovered in 1999, the necessary print and
sound work has yet to be green-lighted by the studio. The
US and International video divisions have been approached
as well as international television and all have turned
us down. Time is turning into a bit of an issue.
Our
current plan of attack in order to launch the restoration
is to propose it to the knowledgeable folks at Turner
Classic Movies who have sponsored such restorations
before. We plan on pitching to them within the next month.
For the past several months we've been encouraging people
to go to the Turner
Classic Movies Website and (under the Request a Movie
banner) specifically request the Night of Dark Shadows
129 Minute Restored Director's Cut. The programmers
and heads of TCM pay attention to viewer requests and by
doing this, they will be fully aware of the film, its audience,
and the enthusiasm for the restoration. So,
please, click on over and place a request."

| Friddy
the Buffy Viewer? |
August
10 2002 |
Jonathan
Frid was recently cited in the Washington Post,
in an interview with James Marsters, who plays vampire
Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
"I just got an autographed picture of Jonathan Frid...
He said 'James, ya made it! Jonathan Frid.''"
The
picture was obtained via Dark Shadows fan Alane
Sue Megna who comments: "When I gave [him] the
photo... he sucked in some air, stared, leaned a little
back on his seat, got slightly red in the face and was struck
temporarily speechless. It obviously meant a lot to him
to be recognized by the original romantic TV vampire, and
it was a great fan moment for me."
