Thursday October 5 saw fans and Dark Shadows alumni unite to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Night of Dark Shadows, the second Dark Shadows feature film, at a special charity screening held at Los Angeles Vista Movie Theater, to benefit the Women's Care Cottage of Los Angeles. Reuniting the virtually the entire surviving cast, Nancy Barrett (Clare Jenkins), John Karlen (Alex Jenkins), Diana Millay (Laura Collins), Lara Parker (Angelique), Chris Pennock (Gabriel Collins), David Selby (Charles/Quentin Collins) and James Storm (Gerard Stiles), with a rare appearance from composer Robert Cobert.

The actors met fans, placed their handprints and signatures in cement for posterity, before sitting back with fans to enjoy a rare screening of a pristine 35mm print of the film direct from the Turner Archives.  Afterwards, Darren Gross gave a talk on the 1999 recovery of the lost director's cut of the film, before sharing a wealth of newly found footage, much of which had never before been seen in public.

Darren comments: "The event was great. One thing no-one's mentioned though is how great the movie worked with an audience. Everyone laughed at the right parts,
screaming at the right parts. Even when they laughed at something like Alex's CPR technique, or applauded Grayson after her Rebecca scene they were doing it in support of the film. When Tracy and Quentin drove back, there was quiet suspense in the audience and when that door all the way at the end of the hall slowly opened and when the teletype played out, you literally could have heard a pin drop… Everyone nearly wet themselves over the piano flashback and the Gerard in the truck--and other sexy bits--elicited shocked gasps!"
